Hansard Supports the Manx Wildlife Trust’s Ramsey Forest Project

At Hansard, we are committed to sustainability and supporting initiatives that protect the environment for future generations. Recently, we had the privilege of contributing to the Manx Wildlife Trust’s important Ramsey Forest Project – a vital effort aimed at preserving local wildlife and helping to combat climate change and at Creg Y Cowin, which is another nature reserve on the Island aimed at restoring the temperate rainforest which used to inhabit the site.
In February and March, our team volunteered their time to plant native trees at the MWT Hairpin Woodland Park. Initially scheduled for the Crossag site, the second session in March was moved to Creg Y Cowin due to ahead-of-schedule progress at the Crossag site and poor weather conditions. Despite the challenges, both sessions turned out to be a resounding success, with our team planting around 270 native trees over the two days.
The Crossags site is a key part of the Ramsey Forest Project and is being used as a pilot initiative to explore the potential of creating a high-integrity carbon credit scheme on the Isle of Man. The project is expected to remove an impressive 3,000 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere over the first 50 years. This is an exciting step forward in both local wildlife preservation and global climate action.
We are proud to be part of this initiative, contributing to both our local environment and the global fight against climate change. Our team is already looking forward to future opportunities to make a difference through sustainable action and environmental stewardship.
